STAND UP FOR LITERACY!
Literacy Suffolk’s 6th Annual Sunset at Sunwood Benefit Event took place September 13th at the Sunwood Mansion in Old Field. Literacy Suffolk remains dedicated to the belief that the ability to read, write and communicate effectively is critical to personal freedom and the maintenance of a democratic society.
New York State Assemblyman Robert K. Sweeney was presented a Leadership in Literacy award for his long and ardent support of Literacy Suffolk. Dr. Richard N. Fine, in his role as Dean, accepted a Leadership in Literacy award on behalf of the Stony Brook University School of Medicine recognizing dedication within the school to educate students on the topic of health literacy.
Guests enjoyed a full evening on the Long Island Sound that included cocktails and an ample raw bar as well as a scrumptious buffet dinner topped off by - of course, delectable chocolate! News 12 anchor Danielle Campbell was a special treat too, gracious and engaging as the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies.
